Data Retreats
A data retreat is a two-day workshop attended by a district
team. This workshop is designed using Judy Sargeant's process
model. A data retreat is the foundation necessary for effective
planning.
The outcome will result from looking at data from four perspectives:
student data, programs and structures data, professional practices
data, and family/community data. Schools will analyze data
patterns to formulate improvement plans that result in improved
student achievement. Analysis will yield the following products:
framework for district assessment plan, case scenarios for
grade advancement or high school graduation policies, a data
analysis process guide, and a school improvement plan. Through
this process, schools will begin to transform their beliefs
and practice around the use of data to inform instruction.
School districts will discover they are more efficient and
more effective in meeting student needs and preparing them
for the future.
This service is free for all Region 3 ESA districts. For more

Curriculum Mapping
Curriculum Mapping is a process for collecting data representative
of the operational (real) curriculum in a school and/or district.
Curriculum maps are like a school’s manuscript. We can
help assist your school and/or district in putting together
maps that help make it obvious which state standards are addressed,
and which are being addressed multiple times. Through this process
schools can become aware of the flow of their curriculum horizontally
and vertically. The underlying premise is keeping the needs
of students in the forefront of our planning and instruction.
Please allow three days to begin this process.
This service is free for all Region 3 ESA districts. For more
information contact sylvia.street@k12.sd.us
or call 605 337-2636 and ask for an ESA staff member. Check
