  About Region 3 ESA
Region 3 ESA is the result of a collaborative planning effort of Mid-Central Education Cooperative, South Central Education Cooperative, James Valley Education Cooperative, and the DIAL Consortium. Mid-Central is the fiscal agent.

Region 3 ESA endeavors to serve the rural districts in the region. In an effort to effectively disseminate information and effectively communicate with its districts, the Region 3 ESA has established this web page.

Representatives from several participating school districts in Region 3 ESA and staff from the Educational Cooperatives met to develop a vision and plans for the ESA. In collaboration, the following goals were developed for implementation in Year One:

Goal One: All schools in Region 3 ESA will receive training and assistance in curriculum development processes that will result in a quality-defined written curriculum. By June 1, 2005, the implementation of effective curriculum processes will increase student achievement in reading and mathematics as measured by the Dakota STEP tests.

Goal Two: All schools in Region 3 ESA will receive technical assistance in school improvement processes and Consolidated Title Application processes that will result in a comprehensive written plan for school improvement that is implemented at the local district level; and a Consolidated Title Application that meets the standards set forth by the South Dakota Department of Education. By June 1, 2005, these school improvement efforts will promote alignment with NCLB standards, increased student achievement in reading and mathematics as measured by the Dakota STEP tests, and increased community-wide acceptance of the schools’ annual progress.

The Region 3 ESA proposal will promote student achievement, provide cost savings to districts and the South Dakota Department of Education, and equalize the opportunities for professional development and service to the 28 school districts in the region.
